Ministry School - New Zealand Students

For New Zealand Citizens & Permanent Residents

Ready to take a year to seek the purposes of God for your life?

Vineyard Ministry School, in partnership with Laidlaw College, offers a foundational theological education combined with practical ministry training. This programme equips students with both an understanding of biblical theology, and hands-on experience in ministry settings.

Vineyard Ministry School will provide support for you to engage with a supervisor in your local context and to prepare and work towards your Ministry Plan and goals.

This programme includes 4 block courses (each one is 3 – 5 days) that are best attended in person. There will be an online option to cover block course content in a tutorial format with our tutors.

There will also be a day of classes and study on a Wednesday from 9 – 3pm. You can join this in person at Grace Vineyard Church, or online from your context.

Ministry Placement

As part of the application process, we will be discussing the potential ministry placement where you will apply your studies practically throughout the year. A ministry placement must have:

  1. A ministry area in a local church or church-based trust.
  2. Some possible key tasks that you could be involved in for around 15 hours / week.
  3. Someone to supervise you for at least 210 hours between mid-February and mid-June, and at least 210 hours between mid-July and mid-November. (This works out at about 15 hours per week) This person will help you know what to do in the ministry and provide feedback on your ministry practice.
  4. Someone to mentor you and give you at least 8 hours of input in each 4-month long semester. This person will help you with your personal walk with Jesus.

Theological Study

The Certificate in Christian Ministry - Internship (CertCM)* is a pathway for emerging Christian leaders to pursue ministry formation and theological study while serving their churches. Students in the CertCM develop knowledge, skills and experience by connecting their own reflection on the Christian faith with real life practical contexts, equipping them for service in the church and wider contexts. The CertCM programme also provides a pathway into further study for further personal and professional development and provides Christian churches and their agencies with people who can support and enhance their communities and ministries.
